SUMMER BIRTHDAYS

“I always felt bad for those kids who had to share their birthday party with a crowd,” recalls  Angie Whitehurst of Washington, DC, our longtime friend and cardmaker who helped us create this unique card. “Most of the time it wasn’t any of their real birthdays - the school must have scored a great deal on sheet cakes and ice cream! Thankfully I was spared by my September 8th birthday, which just barely squeaked me into the school’s calendar, allowing me to have my own party on that day.”

While no longer homeless, Angie’s housing instability goes back to the 1980s. She now has safe and reliable housing in our nation’s capital. Angie receives 15% of the sales from this card and Second Story Cards donates an additional 5% to the National Education Association.
